📋FTAPI Gateway: Connecting an external directory service
Learn how to automatically query an external directory service to retrieve public keys for S/MIME encryption.
It is possible to automatically send an LDAP query to an external directory service of a communication partner before sending an email. If no public key is available for the recipient of the communication partner, the query in the directory service searches for the appropriate key. If it exists, it is exported from the directory service, imported into FTAPI S/MIME, and the initial email is sent encrypted via S/MIME.
The following information is required for the connection to the directory service:
- Login (bindDN)
- Password
- URL
- Port
- Search base (baseDN)
It is possible to connect more than one directory service.
Currently, it is still necessary to initiate the connection via the FTAPI HelpDesk.
