❓ SecuRooms: What encryption is available?

Learn which encryption levels are available in SecuRooms and when end-to-end encryption is recommended.

Encryption in SecuRooms

By default, all data is protected during transmission to the cloud storage using transport encryption (HTTPS/TLS 1.2). Additionally, data at rest is stored in an encrypted state on the FTAPI server. Access to data rooms and the corresponding files is only possible with an FTAPI user account and prior authorization.

Furthermore, data rooms with end-to-end encryption (E2EE) can be used for sensitive data. With E2EE, files are encrypted in the browser before they are uploaded. Only individuals who have received access to the data room can decrypt, download, and read the corresponding files in plain text within the browser.

When should I use which encryption?

Data rooms without end-to-end encryption are suitable for storing non-business-critical files and documents.

End-to-end encryption is suitable for storing personal or business-critical data.

SecuPass: The foundation of end-to-end encryption

The technical foundation of end-to-end encryption is the SecuPass. Each user sets the SecuPass once and then uses it for the encryption and decryption of files. Every time an end-to-end encrypted data room is opened, the SecuPass must be entered.

Do not forget your SecuPass. If lost, all data rooms with end-to-end encryption can no longer be accessed.
