❓ Delivery: Why can I no longer download the files?

This article explains the most common reasons why you can no longer access a sent delivery, such as the expiration of the validity period or manual deletion.

Why is my delivery no longer available?

Countless files are exchanged every day, but not all of them are available indefinitely. If you can no longer access an FTAPI delivery, it is usually because the provided files have been removed for security or storage reasons. This article explains the most common causes.

Reason 1: The validity period has expired

The most common reason for a delivery no longer being available is the expiration of the defined validity period. When sending files with FTAPI, the sender can define such a duration. If no specific period is specified, a default validity of 90 days applies. After this period expires, the content is automatically deleted.

What does this mean for the recipient?

As a recipient, you can no longer download the files contained in the delivery after the deadline has passed. The access link will lead to a dead end or display an error message.

What does this mean for the sender?

As a sender, you will still see the delivery in your outbox for traceability reasons. However, the actual attachment has already been removed by the system and no longer occupies storage space.

Note: Once a delivery has expired, it cannot be restored. Please contact the sender and ask them to resend the files.

Reason 2: The delivery was manually deleted

A sender has the option to manually delete a delivery they have sent at any time, even before the actual validity period has expired. Access to the files is no longer possible for the recipient, and the delivery is no longer displayed to them.
