FTAPI Add-in for new Outlook

In this section, you will find the changelog for the FTAPI Add-in (new Outlook/OWA).

Version 1.3.5

Released on 05/04/2026

New

  • Seamless Add-in launch — centrally specify FTAPI URL: Admins can now store the FTAPI URL as an extension parameter on Microsoft 365 accounts, so that users do not have to enter it themselves during their first login. The automated update process remains unaffected. This accelerates the rollout and reduces support queries.
  • Reliable Add-in launch with multiple Microsoft accounts: If multiple Microsoft accounts are stored in Outlook, the Add-in now determines the centrally specified FTAPI URL from the active account. Users can log in directly with it or manually select a different instance. This ensures a smooth launch even in multi-account environments.
  • More clarity when using classic and new Outlook in parallel: If a user accidentally starts the Add-in in classic Outlook, a clear notification regarding the lack of compatibility appears in the task pane. Sending remains possible; the notification only prevents functions of both Add-ins from being mixed. This reduces support requests during migration phases.
  • Faster error analysis thanks to visible Add-in version: The installed version is now directly visible in the task pane — JavaScript and manifest versions are separated. Users and IT support can see at a glance which release is running without taking the detour via the FTAPI icon in the ribbon. This allows support requests to be categorized faster.

Version 1.2.0

Released on 02/15/2026

New

  • Additional security for fast communication: Security level 1 can now optionally be secured with a password in the FTAPI Add-in as well. The password is transmitted to the recipient outside of FTAPI — for example, via phone or chat. Password protection thus provides additional security for fast communication.

Note: To allow your users to use password protection, the function must be activated for the individual user groups. Learn more.

Improved

  • The stored sending rules for the Outlook Add-in now apply regardless of whether the user groups for users have been changed or not.
  • Secure upload links (SubmitBox links) can now be sent without issues via transfers with security level 4.

FTAPI Add-in Version 1.1.0

Released on 12/15/2025

New

  • End-to-end encryption available: For maximum confidentiality, the proven end-to-end encryption (security level 3 & 4) can now be selected directly and conveniently via the side panel of the FTAPI Add-in. This ensures that sensitive data is optimally protected.
  • SubmitBox button available: The secure receipt of large and sensitive files becomes even easier. The SubmitBox function can now be selected via the FTAPI Add-in to insert an upload button directly into the email body. By clicking the button, recipients can securely and easily request an upload ticket for the sender's SubmitBox.

Fixed

  • Images that are part of an email signature are now no longer removed from the signature when sending a transfer and added as an attachment to an FTAPI transfer.
  • When users are prompted to set a new password, this process is now also smoothly supported within the Add-in.
