Virus scanner at FTAPI

FTAPI offers the premium virus scanner from G DATA for additional security during data exchange. The virus scanner is operated 100% in the FTAPI Cloud. This means that no (!) data is transferred externally for checking. Installation is carried out at the push of a button by FTAPI.

Which checks are performed by the virus scanner in the FTAPI platform?

• SecuMails, SubmitBox, SecuForms: All files sent and submitted via FTAPI are checked for malware before delivery [excl. security level 3, 4*]
• SecuRooms: All files being uploaded are checked for malware before they are made available for download by other people [excl. SecuRoom with E2EE*]
• If malware is identified, the corresponding file is deleted and the sender and optionally the administrator are informed via email notification.
• In addition, the virus scan can be used to define system-wide which file types (MIME types) are permitted for data exchange. All file types that are not included in the whitelist are not permitted during upload/sending.
• The integrated MIME type check also checks all files with regard to the actual file type (MIME type) and thus ensures that only permitted file types are sent and that there is no manipulation of the file formats. Learn more.

*Note: The virus scan is performed for files that are not sent or uploaded with end-to-end encryption (E2EE). Files with end-to-end encryption cannot be checked due to the continuous encryption.
